Tony was joined by Jim Battle, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, and Roy Walters, a retired councillor for Manchester City Council (Moss Side ward) to question a community witness panel and Greater Manchester Police on the subject of stop and search. The forum focused on:

  • Impact on communities
  • Effectiveness of the power in preventing and reducing crime

“Stop and Search is a controversial tool, which police say is necessary to ensure that our communities are safe. This forum will test that claim, as well as identifying its effectiveness and what can be done to make improvements.” Tony Lloyd

On the community witness panel:

Marcus Bernard, Manchestarz
Melvyn McDonald, Hideaway Youth Project
