Ray Teret convicted of rape and sexual assault

Ray Teret

Statement from Tony Lloyd following the conviction of Ray Teret:

“Throughout this trial we have heard shocking accounts of how Ray Teret used his celebrity status to prey on vulnerable young girls. His victims suffered in silence for years and today’s conviction is testament to their bravery in speaking out and I commend them for that.

“Teret thought he was untouchable. That he is now facing a lengthy prison sentence sends a strong message that nobody is above the law and sexual predators can and will be brought to justice.

“Today’s verdict reflects the good work of Greater Manchester Police. It should reassure victims that they will be taken seriously and that police will tirelessly pursue offenders to make them pay for their crimes.”
