Response to HMIC review into police integrity

Response from Tony Lloyd to today’s HMIC report ‘Revisiting police relationships: a progress report

Tony said: “I, along with the Chief Constable, have already committed that Greater Manchester Police will be Leveson compliant regarding the recommendations relating to the media and hospitality, and we are working together on how we can build the public’s confidence in their police force.

“I will work with the police in regularly reviewing the hospitality and gifts register. My own office will lead by example in being transparent and I will declare all gifts and hospitality I am offered or receive. I am also establishing an Audit and Accounts Committee which will have independent oversight on financial probity.”

The Leveson report made recommendations regarding the police, hospitality and the media (pages 20-22 of the Leveson Report Volume 2)
