Tony Lloyd, Police and Crime Commissioner for Greater Manchester, pays tribute to Jim Dobbin MP who sadly passed away over the weekend:
“Jim Dobbin was a close personal friend and naturally my thoughts go out to Pat, Jim’s wife, and his wider family.
“Jim was passionate about many things. He was passionate about Celtic football club for example, and that same passion that he had for football he brought to bear on his beliefs about bettering the communities he represented.
“Jim was a deeply religious man and rightly thought that politics should have a strong moral base and that ran through everything he did. That’s what made him such a good constituency MP, with his real commitment not only to the people of Heywood and Middleton but also communities across Greater Manchester, across the country and the world. That’s why he will be greatly missed.”
