Stop and search – report July 2014

On 16 June 2014, Tony Lloyd chaired a public forum on the topic of stop and search. This report summarises the issues discussed and the  next steps for taking things forward.

After a short presentation which covered key statistics and information about personal experiences of stop and search, Commissioner Tony Lloyd, Deputy Commissioner Jim Battle, and former Moss Side councillor, Roy Walters, questioned two groups of witnesses: community representatives and youth workers, and officers from Greater Manchester Police.

More than 50 members of the public attended the meeting at Manchester Town Hall to hear the discussion.
